Best Value Bean to Cup Coffee Machines

If you're looking for a hands-off, one-press latte that's fully customisable this machine is for you. Read our Beem Espresso Grind Profession review for more details.

You can experiment with different blends immediately with its swappable bean hoppers. Its profiles let you take a step back from where you left at. It's also less expensive than capsule machines and makes use of real beans instead of pre-ground beans.

1. Smeg BCC02

Designed by Milan-based firm Deep Design, this sleek compact machine blends the unique retro style of the brand with modern technology. It is able to handle every step of the coffee-making process - from grinding beans and then tamping them into a puck, to making milk into a texturing process and dispenses the right amount - so you can make barista-quality hot drinks by pressing a button.

The machine also has an attractive brushed aluminum front and is available in black, red or taupe, meaning it'll easily fit into most kitchen designs. It's not without faults, however: most users found it to be a bit expensive for a bean to cup maker (and it doesn't come with a milk pitcher).

There were many positive reviews about the machine's ease of use as well as the quality of its coffee. The intuitive digital display provides step-by-step guidance and feedback throughout the entire coffee making process, helping you perfect your drink every time. The machine even allows you to alter the grind size, if that's not what you want. It's almost like having your own personal home barista (minus Harry Potter's invisibility cloak, and Elon Musk's rocket-building skills).

This model is perfect for those who like milky drinks. The steam wand is adjustable to the right and left to fit most drinking vessels, except Viking drinking horns. We were also awed by the speed and efficiency at the way that the frothing was performed. It creates a delicious, full-flavoured espresso with a great crema.

The BCC02 is an excellent all-rounder. It's quiet and efficient, and it provides excellent value for money at a price that is currently PS499. The only issue is that it doesn't provide the same level of customization like some of the other bean-to-cups we've tested. It comes with a 15 bar pump instead of the typical 19 bars which isn't as effective for making high-quality espressos. This is a fantastic machine for those who like their coffee dark and strong. 2. Melitta Barista TS Smart

The Barista TS Smart is a top bean to cup machine with many features that make it stand out from the competition. Its most unique feature may be the fact that it can be controlled via your smartphone with the Melitta Connect App. This lets you alter the settings and also to dispense different coffee recipes that are stored in the machine.

This makes the machine flexible and adaptable to suit your preferences. There are a variety of options to change the intensity of your drink, cup sizes and even whether you'd like milk added. The machine also comes with two airtight bean containers that are automatically sorted for various specialties. It will default to standard espresso beans in one and cafe creme (a German variation of long black or flat white) in the other, but you can choose whatever beans you like. There's also a convenient chute for pre-ground coffee if you'd like to use your own (for example, if that pesky dinner guest brings their own).

Users have also been amazed by the speed of the machine. They have reported that it can make their drinks faster than other machines they have used. Another benefit is that the machine will warn you when one of its hoppers is about to be empty, ensuring that you do not get caught running out of your preferred beverage.

The price could be a worry for some. This machine is not cheap, costing nearly PS999. It is still cheaper than comparable Jura machines that have the same number features.

The Barista TS Smart is backed by a a generous warranty, offering two years of protection. This is a longer warranty than the standard one-year guarantee. It is a sign of confidence from the manufacturer. It also comes with the cleaning tablet and descaler, making it easy to stay on top of your machine's needs for maintenance. This is an excellent machine for those who are seeking a high-end and versatile bean to cup machine that's priced at a reasonable price.
